President Dallin H. Oaks offered a dedicatory prayer for the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, according to a report published Aug. 17, 2026.
In the prayer, Oaks expressed gratitude for the pioneers of faith and devotion who have established the work of the Church in Brazil.
During the dedication, Oaks thanked God for the faithfulness of servants whose tithing enabled the construction of the temple and other holy houses. He also expressed thanks for the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
The prayer included requests for blessings upon the citizens and leaders of Brazil and its neighboring nations, asking for freedom, prosperity, and righteousness. Oaks also prayed for Church members in Brazil, missionaries, and those who serve in the temple.
Oaks dedicated the entire structure and its surroundings, including the grounds, foundations, and the steeple, to the Lord. The dedication encompassed the baptistry, ordinance rooms, sealing rooms, and the celestial room.
He concluded the prayer by asking that the Spirit and glory of God remain present in the holy spaces to enlighten and guide those who enter the temple.
