The fourth annual Center Street Giant Pumpkin Festival is scheduled to return to downtown Logan on Saturday, Oct. 3. The event features a giant pumpkin weigh-off and is expected to attract more than 20,000 attendees.
Organizers anticipate more than 25 confirmed giant pumpkin growers from across the Intermountain West will compete in the officially sanctioned Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off. Mark Anderson, the mayor of Logan and owner of Anderson’s Seed & Garden, noted that entries are expected to range from 500 pounds to well over 2,000 pounds. Anderson stated that the festival has quickly become a premier giant pumpkin weigh-off in the West since 2023. The Utah state record is 2,289 pounds, which was weighed on Center Street during the festival in 2024.
The free festival will run from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., with Center Street closed to traffic between Main and 100 West streets. The event will feature 116 vendor booths and food trucks offering food, snacks, local products, and gifts. More than 20 free interactive activities are planned for families, including pumpkin decorating, interactive art projects, and Story Time at the Logan City Library. The Utah Theatre will also host a free screening of the 2006 film Over the Hedge at 3 p.m.
Live entertainment will be provided by local bands at the Carol & Jim Laub Plaza, including a performance by The Lonely Hearts Club Band from 5 to 7 p.m. The Laub Plaza will also host a pie eating contest sponsored by Angie’s Restaurant from 2 to 3 p.m. Giant pumpkin carvers and street artists are also scheduled to provide displays along Center Street.
The festival is principally sponsored by Cache Valley Bank and Anderson’s Seed and Garden. Free parking will be available on the blocks surrounding Center Street, with locations identified in the festival’s digital program and online.
