The Vernal City Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, to consider applications for funding from the State of Utah's Permanent Community Impact Fund Board (CIB), according to an August 28 notice.
The hearing is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Vernal City Hall Council Chambers, located at 374 E Main St, Vernal, UT.
One proposed project is the Highway 40 Buffered Parking and Pedestrian Safety Project, which is part of the Vernal Community Block redevelopment between Highway 40 and 100 South and between 100 East and 200 East. This project involves realigning the curb and gutter along Highway 40 to provide parallel parking with extra space between vehicles and highway traffic. It also includes relocating a Hybrid Pedestrian Beacon to provide a signalized pedestrian crossing of Highway 40.
A second project involves the 600 and 650 North Waterline Replacement and Storage Tank Feed Line Project. This initiative aims to replace approximately 8,500 feet of 6-inch waterline in the Glenbrook Subdivision area to address frequent repairs and improve connections to the city's water storage system. The project also includes constructing a new dedicated feed line from 3500 West to the city's 5-million-gallon water storage tank to improve circulation and system reliability.
The public is invited to offer comments regarding the proposed projects and the CIB funding applications during the hearing.
