Athletic Director Karen Johnson announced Tuesday that Brad Kitchen has been named the next head coach of the Snow College men's basketball team.
Kitchen returns to Snow College
Kitchen returns to the program after previously serving as an assistant coach under Andrew May from 2022 to 2025.
Johnson stated that the college is thrilled to welcome Kitchen back following his three years as an assistant coach. She noted that Kitchen helped build the program into its current state and expressed anticipation for him continuing that success.
Success at Timpview High School
Kitchen most recently served as the head coach at Timpview High School during the 2025-26 season. During that tenure, he led the Thunderbirds to a 21-3 overall record, an 8-0 record in region play, and a Region 7 Championship. Under his leadership, the team reached 53rd in the final national rankings. Kitchen also coached 5A Player of the Year Dean Rueckert, who has committed to Brigham Young University.
Previous achievements with the Badgers
During his previous stint as an assistant coach at Snow College, Kitchen contributed to a 73-21 overall record and a 31-14 mark in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. He was part of the 2024-25 team that achieved a 32-2 overall record and a perfect 15-0 conference record. That season, the Badgers won the SWAC Championship, the Region 18 Championship, and the West District Championship, earning the No. 1 overall seed in the NJCAA National Tournament.
Professional background and education
Kitchen's professional background includes serving as a graduate assistant at BYU from 2020 to 2022 and working as the head manager at Utah Valley University during the 2018-19 season, where he also played for the Wolverines in 2019-20.
Personal history and future goals
A native of Springville, Utah, Kitchen graduated from Springville High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UVU in 2020. Kitchen expressed excitement about returning to Ephraim to build upon the program's success and noted that his family is eager to be Badgers once again.
