A single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning left a driver hospitalized and forced the closure of several blocks of roadway in Utah County. The incident occurred at approximately 1:44 a.m. on July 21, according to the Utah County Sheriff's Office.
The driver was traveling on 1600 North at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the roadway at 250 West. The crash caused substantial damage to the vehicle and impacted various power poles, a fence, and other property in the area.
The sole occupant of the car was transported to a local area hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. While officials stated that speed was an evident factor in the accident, the exact cause remains under investigation.
Due to the damage to power lines and other property, 1600 North is closed at the railway crossing near the Lindon Boat harbor. Drivers seeking access to the Lindon Boat harbor can do so from Vineyard Road via the Vineyard Connector.
As of noon, the sheriff's office indicated it was unknown how long the road would remain closed for power line repairs.
