Dear Aviator Families,

Thank you to all of our families who took the time to attend SEP Conferences this week! We know your schedules are busy, and we truly appreciate your commitment to your child's education.

SEPs are more than just an opportunity to discuss academic progress. They are a chance to celebrate successes, set meaningful goals, and strengthen the partnership between home and school. We hope you left your conference feeling proud of your child's accomplishments and excited about the growth ahead.

Upcoming Events & Reminders

Tuesday, October 13 — Mobile Food Pantry

Our Mobile Food Pantry will be visiting Amelia Earhart! Please make sure your child brings a backpack to help carry food items home. Depending on the amount of food your child receives, you may want to plan to pick them up after school to help transport their items.

Thursday, October 15 — ProvoREADS Parent University Event #1

We encourage all families to participate in our first ProvoREADS Parent University event at Shoreline Middle School! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn ways to support your child's reading development at home. Please see the details and registration information below.

October 13: Mobile Food Pantry. Please send your child with a backpack or plan to pick up your student(s).

October 21: End of First Term. Grades coming home.

October 21–26: Fall Break.

October 27: Students return to school from Fall Break.

October 27–30: Spirit and Safety Week.

October 30: Halloween Parade. Parents should enter through the northeast doors near the gym at 9:00 a.m. for the Annual Title I Meeting in the gym. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m., and students will walk through the gym during the parade. If you wish to enter the school afterward, you must enter and check in through the front office.

Attendance Focus

Did you know that absences affect more than just the student who misses school? Teachers often spend additional time helping absent students catch up on missed learning.

Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club After-School Program began Tuesday, September 8! Students can participate in after-school care and enrichment opportunities, including STEM Engineering and Olympic Sports Clubs.

ProvoREADS Literacy Night — October 15

Families with children in preschool through 3rd grade are invited to a fun, hands-on ProvoREADS Literacy Night! Come learn simple, practical reading activities you can use at home to help your child become a stronger, more confident reader.

Date: Thursday, October 15

Time: 5:00–7:30 p.m.

Location: Shoreline Middle School

What to Expect

The evening will include a variety of activities and resources for families, including:

Interactive literacy workshops

A free book for every child

Free family dinner

Raffle prizes

Community resource booths

A 360° family photo experience

Family reading goal-setting stations

Workshops will cover skills such as letter sounds, rhyming, phonemic awareness, blending, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension—all with activities families can continue at home.
