Lehi-area baseball teams enter the state tournament prepared to host playoff matchups beginning Wednesday. The Lehi Pioneers and Skyridge Falcons are positioned for Super Regional competition as they look to advance through their respective brackets.
The Lehi Pioneers hold a 14-10 overall record and a 9-6 record in Region 3, placing them second in the region. Ranked fifth in both RPI and MaxPreps for 6A, the Pioneers are positioned in Bracket 1.
Lehi will host #12 Davis, which has a 15-10 record, for a best-of-3 Super Regionals series on May 13 and 14. The first game is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m., with the second game set for Thursday at 1 p.m. A tiebreaker will follow if necessary.
The winner of this series will face the winner of the matchup between #4 Riverton and #13 Cedar Valley on May 18 at BYU. The Pioneers did not face any of these three opponents during the regular season, and they will not face American Fork in a championship series this year as both teams are on the same side of the bracket.
In Bracket 2, the Skyridge Falcons enter the playoffs with a 14-11 overall record and a 5-10 record in Region 3. The Falcons are ranked seventh in RPI for 6A and sixth in MaxPreps for 6A.
Skyridge will host #10 Copper Hills for a best-of-3 series at home starting Wednesday at 4 p.m. The teams will play again Thursday at 1 p.m., with a tiebreaker following if needed. Skyridge did not play the Grizzlies earlier this season.
The series winner will move on to face the winner of the #2 Mountain Ridge and #15 Herriman matchup at BYU on May 18 at 11 a.m. While the Falcons have not played the Mustangs this season, they previously defeated the Sentinels in a nine-inning game on April 8.
