An upcoming vocations night featuring Bishop Oscar A. Solis, diocesan priests, deacons, and religious sisters will be held Friday, Nov. 13, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish in Orem. The event is designed to provide information to young people and their families to assist in their path to discernment.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will include a question-and-answer panel with men and women who have already accepted God's call. Following the presentations, a light reception will be held. The session will be offered in both English and Spanish.
The theme for the evening is Rebuild My Church. Father Andre Sicard, the assistant director of the vocation office, stated that the theme and location were selected to honor the jubilee of St. Francis of Assisi and to bear witness to the vocation of service and love embodied by the saint.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in Eucharistic adoration, during which participants are invited to pray for vocations and for those currently serving the Church. Additionally, resources will be available for adults and young people interested in learning more about various vocations.
The event is part of the vocation office's vocation promotion plan and will take place shortly after National Vocation Awareness Week. Vocation promotion is one of five priorities in the Diocese of Salt Lake City's pastoral plan, which seeks to nurture vocations to the priesthood, religious life, diaconate, and lay ecclesial ministry.
The Diocesan Vocations Night will take place at 65 East 500 North, Orem, and is open to all ages. For information regarding vocations in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, individuals can visit dioslc.org/vocations.
