Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital's Lehi campus earned national rankings in all 11 pediatric specialties evaluated by U.S. News & World Report, according to a report published September 15.
The 2026-27 Best Children's Hospitals list, released Tuesday, Sept. 15, covers the three-campus Intermountain system located in Salt Lake City, Lehi, and Taylorsville.
The system has ranked in every category for three consecutive years. This year, the hospitals increased their presence in the national top 25 from six specialties to seven. Pediatric neonatology, ranked No. 19, and cancer care, ranked No. 20, both entered the top 25 for the first time.
The system's highest-ranked programs are orthopedics and cardiology and heart surgery, which both hold the No. 11 national ranking. Neurology and neurosurgery ranked No. 12, urology ranked No. 15, and nephrology ranked No. 17.
Four additional specialties received top-50 recognition: gastroenterology and GI surgery (No. 27), diabetes and endocrinology (No. 30), pulmonology and lung surgery (No. 40), and behavioral health, which is designated as top 50 without a numerical rank.
Mandy Richards, president of Intermountain Children's Health and chief nursing executive for Intermountain Health, stated that recognition in all 11 specialty categories reflects the trust families and children place in the system.
Dustin Lipson, president of the Salt Lake City campus, attributed the success to the partnership between Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health in expanding advanced therapies. Dr. Angelo P. Giardino, chair of the University of Utah School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics and chief medical officer of Intermountain Children's Health, noted that the collaboration helps improve outcomes for children and aids in recruiting top physicians.
