The St. George Arts Commission is set to host its 10th annual Arts Summit, themed Art at the Heart. The one-day conference aims to bring together arts leaders from throughout Washington County to network, share, and learn about the industry.
According to a notice from the city, the summit will be held at St. George City Hall. The program includes a welcome breakfast and lunch for participants. Attendance is mandatory for organizations that have received RAP Tax grants from the St. George Arts Commission, though the summit is open to all interested participants.
Keynote speakers for the event include Summerisa Bell Stevens and Spencer Stevens, the president and vice-president of the Harrison Center for the Arts in American Fork. The couple previously founded the Stevens Performing Academy in Manhattan.
Breakout sessions will feature Melinda Pfundstein, Executive Director of Community and Workforce Development at Southern Utah University, and Amy Gold, Business Operations Assistant for the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Pfundstein will discuss arts leadership and the creative economy, while Gold will speak on building systems for arts organizations.
The summit will include the annual Excellence in the Arts awards. This year, the honors will be presented to former City Attorney Shawn Guzman and former St. George Arts Commission Chair John Kessler, who will receive the award posthumously.
