The BYU men's and women's cross country teams both won championships at the UVU XC Invitational held on September 3 at Scera Park in Orem, Utah.
In the women's division, the BYU Cougars secured the team title with a score of 19. The men's team also took first place with a score of 172, followed by the Utah Valley Wolverines in second with 463 and the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in third with 744.
BYU's Tayvon Kitchen won the men's individual title with a time of 13:21.35. Other top finishers in the men's race included Dalton Mortensen, who placed second with a time of 13:51.58, and Noah Jenkins, who placed third with a time of 13:58.67.
Jade Hedengren won the women's individual championship for BYU with a time of 15:08.62. Caren Kipsirat from Utah Valley placed second with a time of 15:41.42, and BYU's Jenna Hutchins placed third with a time of 15:44.65.
The women's team standings for the event were led by BYU with 19 points, followed by Utah Valley with 54 points, Utah with 76 points, and Southern Utah with 106 points. Other participating teams included Southern Idaho, Snow College, Salt Lake, and Westminster.
