An adult man was hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting occurred on a Monday in West Jordan, according to police.
Officers with the West Jordan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near 5000 West and 8500 South. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a shooting had taken place.
The 28-year-old man was transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery. Police stated that the man remained in critical but stable condition.
Investigators also identified a second victim, an adult woman, who was assaulted during the incident. While she was assaulted, police said she does not appear to have been shot and is cooperating with investigators.
The shooting remains under investigation as officers continue to follow leads to identify a suspect. Investigators stated they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
Police requested that the public avoid the area while investigators processed the scene.
