AFFILIATION DEADLINE TO VOTE THE JUNE PRIMARY ELECTION is Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The Republican Party has opted to close its Primary Election to only allow voters affiliated with the Republican Party to vote its ballot. All candidates that filed for office in Millard County are running as Republican candidates. County offices that will appear on the June 23, 2026, Republican Ballot are the Commission races and the Sheriff’s race. If you want to vote for these races, you must be affiliated with the Republican Party. You may update your voter record to affiliate with the Republican Party by visiting: vote.utah.gov, or by completing an Affiliation Form and returning it to the Clerk’s Office before 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

What are the signature requirements to run for office?
Listed below are the signature gathering requirements for offices up for election in 2026. A candidate must file a “declaration of candidacy” form with the election officer and indicate his/her intent to gather signatures, on that form to get the signature gathering packet. In order for a signature to be valid, the person must be a registered Utah voter within the boundaries of the election at the time that their signature is reviewed by the county clerk’s office and must be of the same party as the candidate collecting signatures.
Change in the law now allows signature packets to be turned in prior to reaching the required minimum number of signatures, with supplemental signatures being turned in at any time following the initial submission. The signatures are verified in the order they are received. Therefore, if a voter signs two packets for candidates in the same race, that voter’s signature will count toward the candidate that submits the signature first.
Change in the law now allows signatures to be signed physically and/or electronically.
2026 Candidate Signature Requirements:
In accordance with Utah Code §20A-9-408, the signature requirements for Qualified Political Party (QPP) candidates are provided.
For county offices: 3% of all voters who reside within the district and are eligible to vote in the party’s primary election.
Deadline to submit signatures is 5 p.m., on the last business day that is at least 14 days before the party’s convention.
In accordance with Utah Code §20A-9-408 (8)(v) candidates for State Board of Education must collect the lesser of:
2,000 signatures of registered voters who reside within the district and are permitted to vote in the party’s regular primary election. OR
3% of registered voters who reside within the district and are affiliated with the qualified political party.
In accordance with Utah Code §20A-9-502(5), the signature requirements for Unaffiliated candidates are provided.
Signatures of 300 or 5% of registered voters who reside within the district, whichever is less.
Signatures must be submitted and verified BEFORE declaring candidacy.
Unaffiliated candidates may declare candidacy from January 2, 2026 – June 15, 2026, by 5:00pm.

· All ballots will be in the form of paper and will be mailed to each registered voter eligible to vote the upcoming Election, not including voters who have opted out of receiving a ballot by mail. If you have ballot issues: did not receive a ballot, tore or damaged your ballot, please contact the Clerk’s Office ASAP.
· If you would prefer to vote in person, rather than mailing your ballot through the mail, please bring in the ballot that was mailed to you, along with a picture ID to one of the two vote centers during early voting or on Election Day; OR
· Personally drop your ballot in one of the outside drop boxes; 24 hours a day, up to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day (see locations above). Drop boxes are a convenient way of returning your ballot without having to use a stamp to mail, or to avoid long wait lines at a vote center.
· If mailing your ballot, it must be received by an election official before 8:00 p.m., on Election Day. Postmarks no longer count.
· Ballots cannot be forwarded, not even from a street address to a post office box, or vice versa. To ensure you receive your ballot, visit vote.utah.gov to make sure your mailing address is current.
· To opt out of receiving a ballot through the mail, please visit the Clerk’s Office or update your preferences at voter.utah.gov.
