During a lockdown, students and teachers are required to clear hallways, lock their rooms, turn out lights, move out of sight, and maintain silence. Participants must remain silent until first responders clear the hallways and unlock each door. Parents and visitors inside the building must follow these same procedures.
A lockdown is initiated when a threat or hazard is present inside the school building. In the event of an actual lockdown, the school contacts 911, and local police and other emergency agencies gather at the school to coordinate a response under the command of the lead police agency. The Davis School District informs parents during a real lockdown, with initial information distributed through a call-out system.
The school requested that parents take time to update their phone numbers and emergency contacts. The school stated the drill is intended to ensure preparedness and prioritize student safety in the event of an actual threat.
