Kaysville City has announced several upcoming schedule changes and utility updates, including office closures for Labor Day and final paving operations on 200 North, according to a September 2 report.
Kaysville City Offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Garbage collection will be delayed by one day following the holiday. Residents with questions can call 801-546-1235.
As part of the 200 North Reconstruction and Utilities Project, crews are scheduled to place the final layer of pavement on 200 North from Fairfield Road to 750 East. Work is scheduled for Friday, September 4, and September 8-10, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day.
On Friday, September 4, and Tuesday, September 8, crews will pave the north side of 200 North. During this time, traffic will shift to the south side, and north-side streets at 300 East, 400 East, 500 East, 600 East, and 700 East will be closed at 200 North. Residents on the north side will not have driveway access. Northbound vehicles will be detoured via Fairfield Road and 750 East.
On Wednesday, September 9, and Thursday, September 10, crews will pave the south side of 200 North. Traffic will shift to the north side, and south-side streets at 200 East, 300 East, 400 East, 500 East, and 600 East will be closed at 200 North. Residents on the south side will not have driveway access. Southbound vehicles will be detoured via 100 East.
In a separate report, officials noted that recent weather in the Wasatch Back area, specifically near the Rocky Canyon fire, has caused increased levels of naturally occurring organic materials in the Weber River. Because Kaysville City receives 100% of its drinking water from the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District (WBWCD), which uses the Weber River as its primary source, residents may notice a temporary change in the smell or taste of the water.
City and WBWCD staff are continually monitoring the water distribution systems. While the water continues to meet all State and Federal safe drinking water standards, the presence of organics may affect the water's taste and smell temporarily.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and follow posted detours during the 200 North paving operations.
