The Salt Lake County Children’s Justice Center advisory board held a meeting on Monday, August 10, 2026, according to a report published August 17. The meeting, led by Gentry Holbrook, included updates regarding nonprofit activities, staff appointments, and facility upgrades at the center's locations.
The Friends nonprofit announced it will host the Gift of Hope Gala on October 10. Sponsorship opportunities are available for individuals who are not county employees; interested parties were directed to contact Sierra for more information.
Recent staff updates include the appointment of Reagan Flint as Victim Services Coordinator, Ashlee Brown-Oyler as Mental Health Specialist, and Rebekah Patterson as a Nurse Practitioner.
Updates for the CJC South location include the completion of the parking lot and security upgrades, such as the implementation of visitor badges at the window. Plans are also in progress to replace a crumbling CJC sign.
At the CJC North location, Erica Bennett conducts interviews in both English and Spanish, while Kayley Laureano provides victim advocacy services in both languages.
Regarding the MDT Directory, the CJC manages the directory and requests monthly reviews with updates or corrections sent to cjc@saltlakecounty.gov.
Sgt. Rob Scott proposed implementing bi-annual MDT training for active partners to discuss case trends and issues. Additionally, a suggestion was made regarding a new guideline for law enforcement to not openly carry firearms while at the CJCs.
The meeting agenda also included updates from DCFS and discussions regarding CPS zip code realignment and law enforcement after-hours contact procedures.
