Gardeners Basics of Spanish Fork, Utah, issued a voluntary recall for certain one-pound bags of broccoli sprouting seeds due to possible Salmonella contamination, according to an October 6, 2026, statement.
The recalled product is identified as Gardeners Basics Waltham 29 Broccoli Sprouting Seeds. The items are packaged in white and green resealable pouches with a net weight of 1 pound (454 g) and bear the UPC 848137042889. The bags are marked as packed for 2027.
According to the company, the recall was prompted by notification that bulk seed used to package the product may be contaminated with Salmonella. Sales of the affected product have stopped. The product was sold online in the United States through Amazon, the Gardeners Basics website, TikTok Shop, Walmart, eBay, and Etsy. Amazon purchases made on or after September 10, 2026, may be affected.
Consumers are advised not to use or eat the recalled seeds or any sprouts grown from them. Instead, customers should seal the seeds and any sprouts in a bag and discard them, as no return is required.
Gardeners Basics stated that customers can contact them for refund assistance if an affected purchase has not already been refunded. The company requested that customers provide their order number and purchase location when reaching out.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. As of October 6, 2026, no illnesses related to this recall have been reported to Gardeners Basics.
