Hurricane is integrating several new dining and recreational options into its established summer routine for 202/6. While new establishments like The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill and Applebee's have recently joined the local landscape, the city continues to rely on long-standing institutions and seasonal events like Peach Days to define its community rhythm.
New dining options have expanded the city's food scene this year. The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill opened in June at 68 South 1400 West, Suite 1, bringing a fast-casual Mediterranean choice to the area. Additionally, Applebee's opened on West State Street earlier this year under the management of Cord Dallman.
Recreational facilities have also seen recent updates. The Storm Courts four-court gym opened in March, offering space for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball tournaments. Furthermore, the Community Center pickleball courts were reconstructed this year to provide more indoor options during summer heat.
Established local favorites remain central to Hurricane's food scene. River Rock Roasting Company continues to offer coffee and meals with views of the Virgin River, while Main Street Cafe provides Italian-American dining downtown. For sit-down dinners, Pig's Ear American Bistro remains a prominent choice featuring a menu that includes steak tacos and ribs.
For water-based recreation, Sand Hollow State Park and Quail Creek State Park remain primary destinations. As of July 2026, Sand Hollow reported good launching conditions with the reservoir at 80% capacity, while Quail Creek was listed at 71%. Visitors are advised to check for Stage 2 fire restrictions and harmful algae information at both locations.
The summer season will culminate with the 28th annual Peach Days, running from September 3 through September 5, 2026. The celebration includes a variety of events such as the Peach Cook-off, a parade on Saturday morning, and rodeo performances at American Legion Equestrian Park.
Organized activities also include the Historic Hurricane Canal Trek, with various difficulty levels offered ranging from an easy walk to an advanced trek. While the city's new aquatic center is currently under construction, it is not expected to be completed until June 2028.
