Lake Mountain School District announced on September 14 that it has received $2.1 million in grants and contributions from Meta. These funds are intended to support students and the district's long-term facility needs as it prepares to begin operations in July 2027.
The partnership includes a $600,000 grant for land acquisition and a $1.5 million commitment to the Lake Mountain Education Foundation. Meta also pledged an ongoing annual contribution of $50,000 to the Foundation. The $600,000 grant is intended to allow the district to acquire approximately three acres of property, which represents about 30% of the land needed for a future elementary school site.
Julie King, President of the Lake Mountain School District Board of Education, stated that the partnership represents an important investment in the future of students and the community. She noted that securing land early is essential for building neighborhood schools that keep pace with the growing community and helps the district prepare for future enrollment growth while managing costs.
The $1.5 million contribution to the Lake Mountain Education Foundation will be made before December 31, 2026, following a construction milestone for an expanded data center facility in Eagle Mountain. Resources from the Foundation will support initiatives to enhance student learning, including early childhood literacy.
Superintendent Vicki Carter said the investment puts additional resources directly into opportunities for students. Meta's Community Engagement Manager, David Williams, noted that securing land at current prices helps stretch the district's budget and keeps costs lower for local families.
The partnership also extends to other local districts. The Lake Mountain School District Board of Education negotiated an additional $10,000 contribution each to Aspen Peaks School District and Timpanogos School District to support student scholarships and other opportunities.
Since breaking ground in Eagle Mountain in 2018, Meta has contributed more than $5 million to various schools, nonprofits, and community organizations in the area.
Lake Mountain School District is scheduled to begin operations on July 1, 2027. The district will serve Cedar Fort, Eagle Mountain, Fairfield, and Saratoga Springs, and is projected to serve more than 26,000 students and approximately 3,000 employees.
