BYU women's volleyball sweeps UVU, led by Hardy, Po'uha

The BYU women's volleyball team came in hungry on Wednesday night at the Smith Fieldhouse against UVU, dominating the match in three sets (25-11, 25-9, 25-16) with middle blocker Brooke Hardy and libero Lulu Po’uha carrying the team to victory.Four days earlier the Cougars faced off against the Bruins, battling it out to five sets to fortify the win, and Wednesday they stepped into the Smith Fieldhouse with a winning mentality.Hardy started off the night strong with three blocks in the first set and two kills, quickly snuffing out the Wolverines' front row, aided by Po’uha’s uncrackable defense with six digs in the first set.Brooke Hardy BLOCK PARTY tonight!! pic.twitter.com/FQ7nTrA60K— BYU Women’s Volleyball (@BYUwvolleyball) September 16, 2026
Both teams embodied a scrappy approach, but ultimately the Cougars came out on top with Po’uha directing the team’s defense to allow the offense to shine, ending the game with a whopping 19 digs.“I think that going into this game, we just wanted to build good habits," Po'uha said. "Although the pace was a little slower than we thought we wanted to get good touches on that, so that was my goal was just to get a good touch on the first touch."The Cougars ended all three sets by keeping the Wolverines under 16, and sweeping UVU with a total of 45 kills, 35 digs, and 18 blocks, with Hardy holding six of those kills and blocks each.Po’Hua explained that “sticking together in those times that we lost the run in those moments” allowed it to adjust as a team and secure the match.BYU (6-1) will return to play at Weber State on Thursday.
