BYU diver Brooklyn Goeckeritz eager for new team, new coach, this season

With the 2026-27 BYU swim and dive season approaching, the Cougars find an unexpected twist with the introduction of a new coach and several new teammates to their roster. Diver Brooklyn Goeckeritz sees promise with this new team.Coming into her second season as a sophomore at BYU, CSA Scholar All-American Team diver Brooklyn Goeckeritz talked about some of the exciting new adjustments that BYU’s team has made this year, the most exciting one being the introduction of new coach Tom Huynh.

“We did just get a new coach, and so that’s been a little bit of an adjustment, but it’s been a really great adjustment and it’s really helped us," Goeckeritz said. I’ve already seen a lot of progress, so I’m really excited to see what our team can do this year."Some of Huynh’s accomplishments include working at Purdue, where he engineered sports medicine and science technology for divers as an elite diving biomechanics research fellow. His work at Purdue helped produce six Olympians in 2024.“I love how professional he is, and he’s very serious," Goeckeritz said. "He knows exactly what he’s talking about. Coming in, that was refreshing to us because we were ready to just take this season and make the corrections we needed to so that we can progress and be the best divers we can be."While adjusting to Huynh and several new teammates, Goeckeritz hopes to qualify for the NCAA’s this season in addition to qualifying for the Zones Championships last year.BYU’s swim and dive team will hold its annual Blue vs. White Meet Friday in Provo.
