The Lehi High School football team entered the playoffs as the No. 10 seed in the final 6A RPI rankings. While the team held a 6-4 record, the placement did not fully reflect the season the Pioneers experienced, as all four losses occurred against teams ranked in the state top five.
The Pioneers' losses were largely competitive, with three of them decided by a combined seven points. Lehi fell to No. 4 Mountain Ridge by two points in August and lost to No. 2 Skyridge by four points in mid-September. Additionally, No. 5 Herriman secured a one-point victory over Lehi after a blocked field goal.
Lehi finished third in the state's toughest region, dealing setbacks to the Cavemen and the Knights. During a loss to the Chargers, the team lost its starting quarterback and secondary leader in the second period. However, the bye week was expected to allow those key players to return for a rematch against American Fork in the second round of the state tournament.
Senior quarterback Wyatt Bingham has provided a different style of play for the team. He has completed 62 percent of his passes with an 11-yard average and has one interception in 92 attempts. Bingham has also demonstrated the ability to run and pass effectively.
Running back Devaughn Eka has been a major part of the offense, rushing for 1,028 yards and 13 touchdowns on 133 carries. He has also contributed 304 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Legend Glasker has been the primary target with 35 receptions for 600 yards and seven touchdowns, while also adding 202 ground yards and two touchdowns.
The Lehi defense has been a significant factor in the team's success, recording 40 tackles for loss and 15 sacks. Senior linebacker Vince Evans has led the group with 102 total tackles, including seven for a loss and 3.5 sacks. Senior defensive back Trey Fabrizio has also contributed 55 combined tackles, four interceptions, and two blocked field goals.
Other notable defensive contributors include junior linebacker Brody Downs, senior defensive lineman Briggs Love, senior defensive end Penisimani Takitaki, and junior linebacker Colt Kelley.
If Lehi wins their second-round matchup, they would advance to play either No. 2 Skyridge or No. 15 Copper Hills in the quarterfinals on Nov. 7. The scheduled kickoff for that contest is 6 p.m. unless the teams agree to a different time.
