Layton Construction and UCHealth have completed a major expansion of Highlands Ranch Hospital in Colorado. The project comes as the state faces an estimated shortage of 2,400 doctors by 2030.
New hospital facility features
The expansion features a five-story tower that includes a cancer center, expanded stroke and cardiac programs, and 14 new emergency beds.
Scale of construction efforts
The construction process involved over half a million manhours with 250 workers on site during peak operations across 16 different trades. Construction for the facility began in the summer of 2023.
Advanced cancer center technology
The new cancer center contains a state-of-the-art linear accelerator. Installing this equipment required pouring 6-foot concrete walls on all sides while ensuring patient care remained unaffected.
Commitment to patient care
Conor Ryan, Director of Business Development, stated that contributing to enhanced patient care in the local community is deeply meaningful for team members who reside in Highlands Ranch. Ryan added that Layton Construction took steps such as working nights or managing material deliveries thoughtfully to minimize distractions for caregivers.
