CASTLE DALE — A new chapter is set to begin for the Emery High School volleyball program as Cherelle Manzanares takes over as head coach of the Spartans. Bringing a passion for the sport, a positive coaching approach and a desire to build a championship-caliber culture, she is eager to lead Emery into the upcoming season.

The hotly anticipated return of the coal bowl between the Emery Spartans and the Carbon Dinos arrived in the Castle Country on Friday, Aug. 21, as the Dinos traveled to Castle Dale for a non-region contest against the Spartans. Having not lost to Carbon since 2018, Emery extended its ongoing win streak over the Dinos, defeating its cross-county foe 41-14.
