Following months of council deliberations and modifications, West Jordan’s municipal budget for the upcoming fiscal year was approved last night.

Mayor Burton officially presented the proposed budget to the City Council on May 5, initiating a budget deliberations between municipal departments, utility departments, and capital projects planned for our city. To ensure fiscal responsibility, the Council and city staff logged many hours of council deliberations across five dedicated work sessions over three months.

Every dollar allocated in the budget is reviewed against the City Council’s Five Guiding Priorities:

Resident Focused

Sense of Community & City Identity

City Aesthetics

Economic Development

Employee Satisfaction

Fiscal Health & Tax Rate Thanks to prudent, long-term financial management, West Jordan continues to hold a top-tier Triple-A bond rating from Fitch Ratings. To cover rising operational costs while keeping resident impact minimal, any adjustments are strictly tied to inflationary recovery—such as this year’s modest proposed 2.19% increase.

Following a Truth in Taxation public hearing on August 11, the City Council is set to formally adopt the final budget before the end of the month.
