Virgin Town has announced that 5,000 free sandbags will be available for residents only. The sandbags can be picked up at the Town Office from October 5-7 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
To receive sandbags, residents must live in the flood plain or have a history of flooding. There is a household limit of 50 bags, which the town manages on an honor system. Residents are asked to sign a checkout form so the town can track the remaining inventory.
Sand for filling the bags is located at the Public Works Maintenance Yard at 391 N Pocketville Rd. Residents may fill their own bags after picking them up between October 5-7. If residents wait until October 8, assistance will be available to help fill the bags.
Elderly or disabled residents may call Public Works for bag filling and delivery at (435) 635-4695 ext. 2.
