Freshman quarterback Nate Dahle earned his first collegiate start, completing 21 of 44 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns. Noah Kjar recorded nine catches for 150 yards and two touchdown receptions, while Spencer Ferguson rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Southern Utah finished the game with 514 total yards, including 368 rushing yards. The Thunderbirds' offense featured a 75-yard touchdown run by Will Burns and several scoring drives led by Floyd Chalk.
Weber State's defense saw a standout performance from Zach Smith, who returned an interception 91 yards for a touchdown, marking the third-longest interception return in program history. Teni Worthen led the defense with 11 tackles and two tackles for loss.
The Wildcats played the game without quarterback Devin Brown, wide receiver Tate Kjar, and linebacker Raimoana Tinirauarii due to injuries. Weber State's three-game road stretch continues next at Colorado.
