The Provo Library has announced a lineup of upcoming youth programs for September 2026, featuring vocabulary challenges for children and creative workshops for local tweens. The scheduled activities include the recurring Word Worm event in the Children's Department and the Tween Thursdays program held in the Story Room.
Vocabulary Challenges for Children
The Word Worm program, a passive program designed for children, is scheduled for multiple dates throughout the month of September. The Provo Library has organized this event to target various age groups, including children aged 0-2, 3-5, 5-8, and 9-12.
According to the library, the program is designed for "logolepts"—individuals with an obsession with words—to test their vocabulary. Participants who participate in the challenge in the Children's Department have the opportunity to earn a small prize.
Scheduled dates for the Word Worm event include Tuesday, September 8; Thursday, September 10; Friday, September 11; and Saturday, September 12. Each of these sessions will take place throughout the day within the Children's Department.
Creative Workshops for Tweens
In addition to the vocabulary challenges, the Provo Library will host its Tween Thursdays program, which is specifically designed for children ages 9-12. These sessions are held in the library's Story Room.
On Thursday, September 10, the library will host a notebook decoration workshop. The program is scheduled to run from 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The goal of the session is to allow participants to decorate a notebook to reflect their own unique style, which can be used for schoolwork or personal journaling.
Registration for the Tween Thursdays program is set to open on September 7, 2026.
Program Details and Target Demographics
The upcoming September schedule reflects a variety of event types offered by the Provo Library. The Word Worm events are classified as passive programs and are tagged as kid-friendly, catering to a broad spectrum of age groups from infants to pre-teens.
Conversely, the Tween Thursdays program is categorized as an afterschool activity specifically for the 9-12 age demographic. These programs represent the library's ongoing efforts to provide engaging content for youth in the community.
