SANPETE, EMERY counties, Aug. 14, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Black Canyon Fire, caused by lightning on July 30 and straddling the Sanpete and Emery County border, now stands at 3,549 acres and is 26% contained. The fire is about 16 miles east of Ephraim and north of Joes Valley Reservoir.
