More public lands reopened Thursday as agencies continued reducing closures related to the Babylon Fire, which remains 95% contained after burning 107,189 acres southwest of Monticello. Smoke from the Babylon Fire rises from a mountainside near Mountain Road and County Road 354 west of Monticello on July 20, as crews continued suppression, monitoring and repair work on the 107,189-acre wildfire.
