ESPN's "College GameDay" is scheduled to visit Salt Lake City for Week 8 of the college football season. The crew will be on site for the matchup between No. 9 Utah and No. 16 Houston on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2026.
Speculation is underway regarding the celebrity guest picker for the upcoming game. Previous guest pickers at Utah's campus in Salt Lake City include legendary quarterback Alex Smith last season and former Utes and NFL receiver Steve Smith Sr. two years prior to that.
Potential candidates for the guest picker role include several former Utah players currently in the NFL. Eric Weddle, a 2006 consensus All-American and College Football Hall of Fame inductee, is considered a top option. During his college career, Weddle recorded 143 total tackles, 18 interceptions, and 203 rushing yards with five scores as a senior. His son, Gaige Weddle, a four-star safety in the class of 2028, has an offer from Utah.
Other NFL players with Utah ties include Buffalo Bills players Dalton Kincaid and Cole Bishop. Kincaid, a first-round pick in 2023, has 179 receptions for 2,007 yards and 10 touchdowns in his NFL career. He finished his senior season at Utah in 2022 with 890 yards and eight touchdowns. Bishop, a second-round pick in 2024, finished the 2025 season with two sacks and three interceptions for the Bills. Bishop's college career included 197 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and three interceptions.
Other potential options for the show include Steve Smith Sr., who last appeared on "College GameDay" in 2023 when Utah hosted Oregon. Smith Sr. played two seasons for Utah from 1999 to 2000, recording 78 receptions for 1,603 yards and 12 touchdowns. Musical artist Post Malone is also mentioned as a possibility due to his residence near Salt Lake City and his song "Something Real" being used as an ESPN college football anthem in 2023.
The identity of the guest picker for the Utah versus Houston game remains to be determined.
