The FBI's Salt Lake City Field Office is seeking to identify potential victims and witnesses following a fatal shooting at an In-N-Out in Twin Falls, Idaho, that killed three people on Aug. 4. Federal authorities are deploying resources across the country, including victim specialists, to assist those affected by the tragedy.
FBI Seeks Victim Information
The push for information comes as federal authorities work to assist families and individuals impacted by the incident. According to the FBI, anyone who was directly impacted by the event or believes they may be a victim is encouraged to complete a victim information form provided by the agency. The FBI also requested that individuals who know others who may have been victimized encourage them to complete the form themselves.
Fatal Shooting in Twin Falls
The call for assistance follows a violent incident on Aug. 4, when three people were killed during a shooting at an In-N-Out restaurant. The Twin Falls County Coroner’s Office completed identification procedures and notified next of kin prior to the public release of the names of the deceased, according to a statement from local officials.
Identified Victims
The three individuals identified as victims of the Aug. 4 shooting were Ashley Garibay, 23, of Stockton, California; Dale Schultz, 66, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Christopher Claunch, 59, of Hagerman, Idaho.
Support for Affected Families
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks emphasized that the department's primary focus is providing support and resources to the 10 immediate families directly affected by the tragedy. Hicks noted that these families are experiencing an unimaginable loss or are dealing with injured family members, and he urged the community to show compassion and respect the privacy of those mourning.
Family Assistance Operations
In response to the incident, Twin Falls Police, working alongside the FBI and various local, state, and federal partners, established a Family Assistance Center. The center was organized to provide in-person support, information, and assistance to victims and their loved ones.
Assistance Center Details
The Family Assistance Center was located at Sawtooth Elementary School, located at 1771 Stadium Blvd. The center was scheduled to be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday to serve the community. During these hours, victims and family members could request and collect personal belongings left at the scene that had not yet been returned.
Available Resources
Various professional services were made available at the assistance center to help those affected by the shooting. These services included mental-health support, spiritual care, and assistance from the American Red Cross. Additionally, Crime Victims’ Compensation and other victim-assistance professionals were available to help navigate the aftermath of the incident.
