The Skyridge boys golf team finished fifth in the seventh and final Region 3 tournament of the regular season at Riverbend Golf Course in Riverton, according to a September 29 report by the Lehi Free Press.
The Falcons earned a combined team score of 296 during the event.
Lone Peak won the tournament with a score of 271, followed by Lehi with 276. Corner Canyon finished third with 287, while American Fork posted a score of 293.
Skyridge freshman Jraice Finau led the Falcons with a one-under 71. Three teammates, junior Landon Makin, senior Tanner Porter, and junior Hayes Mauss, tied at 75 for the other counted scores.
Other varsity participants included sophomore Beckham Bell with a 76, sophomore Bridger Warr with a 78, sophomore Dylan Hymas with a 79, and junior Klive Fuhriman with an 80. In the nine-hole JV round, junior Hudson Murphy recorded the best score for the Falcons with a 38.
The team also participated in the Region 3 match play tournament, a pro-style event that does not count toward state standings.
Skyridge played a qualifier round on September 24 against American Fork to determine advancement to the league semifinals. While the teams ended in a tie, Skyridge advanced via a scorecard playoff.
On Monday, Sept. 28, the Falcons played top seed Lehi. The Pioneers moved on to the final after winning the match 4.5 to 3.5.
The final Region 3 tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course in Orem. The 6A State Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 12 and 13 at Talons Cove Golf Club in Saratoga Springs.
