The Seager Memorial Clinic will host its sixth annual Charity Recital on Friday, Oct. 23, according to a report published Oct. 21. The event is scheduled to take place in the Browning Center at Weber State University to raise funds for critical care for the uninsured and underserved community.
The upcoming recital will feature performances by pianist Deondra Brown Nielsen of The 5 Browns, guitarist and vocalist Jacob Pletcher, and the Weber State University Jazz Quartet. The quartet includes Kirk Kirksey, Edward Morales, David Bishop, and Sam Morris. Attendees will also have access to a silent auction and desserts.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the recital will directly benefit the Seager Memorial Clinic. The event is supported by several sponsors, including Dr. Rosemary Lesser, Wealth Enhancement Group, Michel Foundation, America First Credit Union, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of Utah, Tanner Clinic, Weber State University Dumke College of Health Professions, Zions Bank, Intermountain Health, True Vision Physicians and Surgeons, Butter My Bread, and the Elliott-Hall Company.
The Seager Memorial Clinic was established in 1988 after Dr. Floyd Seager witnessed a man collapse on the street in Ogden. Upon learning the individual was unhoused and lacked medical access, Dr. Seager partnered with the Ogden Rescue Mission to provide free medical, dental, vision, mental health, and pharmacy services to those in need. After operating for decades in a basement at the Ogden Rescue Mission, the clinic relocated last year to a larger facility on 24th Street.
