A 22-year-old man is in custody following reports of shots fired early Thursday morning in Moab, Utah.
The Grand County Sheriff’s Office reported that the gunfire occurred at a residence on Nuevo Court.
According to a statement from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the Moab City Police Department responded to the scene and discovered multiple bullet strikes on a residence, a garage, and a vehicle. No injuries were reported inside the home.
Approximately 35 minutes after the initial response, officers located Zane Beecher Maher-Young walking near the area. Officials noted he had visible injuries and blood on his clothing.
During the investigation, detectives recovered a 9mm handgun believed to have been used in the shooting, as well as other evidence linking Maher-Young to the incident.
Detectives believe the shooting was targeted and premeditated based on evidence and statements gathered during the investigation. Additional search warrants have been executed as investigators continue to collect evidence.
Maher-Young was booked into the Grand County jail on multiple felony charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
