Fire crews have made significant progress in addressing the West Echo Fire in Summit County. According to updates from Utah Fire Info, the fire is currently estimated at 12 acres and forward progress has been stopped.
The West Echo Fire, located west of Echo Reservoir, was determined to be human-caused. As of an update on August 7, 2026, crews reported that conditions currently look favorable and they have made good progress on the incident.
Earlier reports on August 7 indicated the fire was estimated at 10 acres before the updated assessment of 12 acres was provided.
Summit County has faced various fire restrictions throughout the summer. In June 2026, fire danger levels were increased to extreme, resulting in Stage 1 fire restrictions for all state and unincorporated lands. Stage 2 fire restrictions were also implemented for state land and unincorporated areas of Summit County starting June 26, 2026, due to extremely dry vegetation and forecasted weather conditions.
