Elite Electric completed a 230 kW commercial solar installation in Richfield, Utah, on August 17. The project is projected to generate more than 340,000 kWh annually and is expected to save approximately $35,000 in energy costs during the first year.
The 230 kW DC system, which is approximately 190 kW AC, aims to reduce the facility's reliance on the traditional grid. According to engineering estimates, the system's annual production is expected to fall between 335,000 and 355,000 kWh. Based on current Utah commercial utility rates, monthly electricity costs that previously averaged between $3,500 and $4,200 could decrease to approximately $500 to $900, depending on consumption patterns and solar production.
Beyond financial savings, the installation is projected to offset approximately 235 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually. This environmental impact is roughly equivalent to removing 50 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles from the road for one year or 375,000 miles of passenger-vehicle driving.
Elite Electric, a Sandy-based company led by Tyler Gordon, utilizes a vertically integrated approach. The company uses its own crews of licensed electricians and certified solar installers rather than subcontracting. This model avoids using commissioned sales teams, instead using a standardized calculation process to determine system size based on actual energy requirements.
"Our goal is to make solar straightforward," said Tyler Gordon. He stated that the company focuses on engineering systems around actual power usage rather than selling more solar than a customer needs.
Elite Electric has completed more than 1,500 electrical and solar projects throughout Utah. The company's services include residential and commercial solar, battery storage, EV charging, panel upgrades, and backup power systems.
