Duchesne City is accepting applications for a Part-Time Airport Manager to oversee the daily operation, inspection, maintenance, and administration of the Duchesne Municipal Airport. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming airport for pilots, tenants, visitors, and the community.
This position works approximately 15–29 hours per week, with a flexible schedule based on airport operational needs. Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response may be required. Compensation is DOE (Dependent on Experience).
Primary Responsibilities
The Airport Manager is responsible for a wide variety of operational and maintenance duties, including:
Conduct routine inspections of runways, taxiways, lighting systems, signage, pavement, drainage, safety areas, and airport facilities.
Perform airport and grounds maintenance including mowing, landscaping, weed control, snow removal, and minor repairs.
Inspect and maintain airport equipment including runway lighting, rotating beacon, windsock, radio equipment, and aviation fueling systems.
Monitor aviation fuel inventory and coordinate fuel deliveries.
Maintain inspection reports, maintenance records, and required operational documentation.
Coordinate maintenance projects and repairs with contractors.
Work with the FAA, UDOT Aeronautics Division, emergency services, and other agencies to maintain regulatory compliance.
Assist with airport planning, capital improvement projects, grants, reporting, and compliance requirements.
Provide excellent customer service to pilots, tenants, airport users, and the public.
Respond to operational issues and emergencies outside normal business hours when necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Utah Driver License
Ability to safely lift at least 50 pounds
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to walk uneven terrain and climb ladders
Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools
Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, and electronic recordkeeping)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic budgeting and purchasing knowledge
Ability to successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug screening
Familiarity with airport wildlife hazard management
Ability to obtain Airport Certified Employee (ACE) or similar airport training if required
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
Municipal airport operations or management
FAA airport operations and Advisory Circulars
Airport safety and regulatory compliance
State or federal grant writing and administration
Construction or infrastructure project management
Airport fueling systems and aviation fuel handling
Operation of tractors, loaders, mowers, snow removal equipment, or other heavy equipment
FAA Pilot Certificate (Private Pilot or higher)
Amateur (HAM) Radio License
Compensation
Part-Time (15–29 hours per week)
Compensation based on qualifications and experience (DOE)
