The J. Willard Marriott Library has introduced a group of new professionals joining the library team in 2025. These individuals are tasked with assisting students, staff, and faculty to support academic success.
Mary Aagard joins as the Head of Collections and Resource Description. She holds a Master of Library Science from Indiana University – Indianapolis and previously served as the Head of Acquisitions and Collections at Boise State University's Albertsons Library.
Nicole Marek has been appointed as the Development Specialist. Bringing experience from fields including finance, mental health, and interior design, she most recently served as the Executive Assistant to the VP of Philates and Alumni Engagement at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Theadora Soter is joining the library as the Rare Books Assistant Curator. A Utah native and University of Utah graduate, she is currently pursuing an MLIS degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Jacob Martinez joins as the Audiovisual Specialist. He has been involved with the University of Utah since 2017, previously serving as the Head of Audio at Kingsbury Hall.
Amanda Hurtado has joined as the Special Collections Program Manager. She holds a PhD in Media Poetics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and has extensive experience in academic libraries.
Camri Kohler joins as the Digital Initiatives Librarian. Having worked at the University of Utah for nearly a decade, her previous roles include serving as an Archivist at PBS Utah and a U-matic Research Project Archivist at the Marriott Library.
Heidi Fendrick has been named the inaugural Assessment Data Analyst. She previously served as the State Data Coordinator for the Utah State Library Division and is a recipient of the Francis Keppel Award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
