The Brigham City Library has announced its summer programming lineup for 2026, including registration for a community-wide reading challenge and various educational activities for children and adults.
Summer Reading Challenge Registration
Registration for the summer reading challenge is currently open. According to the Brigham City Library, participants can register at the library between June 1 and July 18 or July 19. The program includes activity logs for various age groups, including teens, preschool, and general categories.
Workshops and Storytime Sessions
The library's summer schedule features several specialized workshops for children. A Summer Storytime session for children ages 3-6 was held on June 15, and the library will host Big Reads sessions for children ages 7-9 on June 24. These sessions include stories, activities, and crafts.
STEM and Creative Activities
STEM and creative activities are also scheduled throughout the summer months. A Summer Lego Club event took place on June 11, while a Mini Archaeological Dig session for learning about excavation was held on June 17. Additionally, the library's summer calendar includes drop-in scavenger hunts, such as the 'Story Squad' hunt held from June 5 to June 17.
Prizes and Completion Deadlines
Participants in the summer reading challenge can earn small prizes upon turning in completed activity logs. The library noted that game boards must be turned in by August 1, with grand prize drawings scheduled for August 3.
Scholarship Opportunities for Youth
Readers aged 18 and under who register for the summer reading program are also eligible to enter for a chance to win one of six regional $1,000 my529 scholarships through the 'Book Your Summer' award.
