Shoreline Middle School recently hosted a variety of school-wide events and activities, according to a Hirschi Highlight update. The week included student and teacher recognition, musical performances, and themed spirit days for HOPE Week.
During the week, the school conducted learning walks where educators visited various classrooms to observe instructional practices. In Mr. Harris’s class, students worked on sticker designs, while Mrs. Lima’s students wrote short stories in Portuguese. Mrs. Benson’s class performed experiments with aluminum cans to explore particle density, and Mrs. Haacke’s students built Newton’s cradles to study gravity, mass, and matter. In Mrs. Salgado’s class, students worked on reading comprehension and syllable types, having progressed through an 18-week program in only six weeks.
The school also celebrated HOPE Week with themed dress-up days. The week featured events such as Dressing Like a Teacher on Monday, Twin Day on Tuesday, Jersey Day on Wednesday, Comfy Day on Thursday, and wearing yellow on Friday. Additionally, the fall choir concert, directed by Mrs. Weixler, took place on a Thursday evening and drew a crowd.
Student and teacher spotlights were held to recognize individuals demonstrating the Panther Way. Ella, Addilyn, Ridel, Ethan, and Mrs. Benson were recognized for being respectful, responsible, compassionate, and safe. Each recipient received a Cafe Rio gift certificate and a Hirschi Bar. Meanwhile, Business College and Career Awareness classes led by Mr. Chadwick designed and sold custom pins, which were assembled by CCA Technology students and sold in the lunchroom.
New teachers were also welcomed to an after-school meeting to review school information, expectations, and procedures. Principal Tommy Hirschi noted that these meetings allow for the exchange of ideas and fresh perspectives from the new educators.
The school continues to focus on hands-on learning and community building through various student-led and teacher-led initiatives.
