Lake Mountain School District announced in a report published September 14 that it has received $2.1 million in grants and contributions from Meta. The funds are intended to support students and the district's long-term facility needs as the district prepares to begin operations in July 2027.
The partnership includes a $600,000 grant designated for land acquisition, which will allow the district to purchase approximately three acres of property. According to the district, this represents about 30% of the land needed for a future elementary school site. Julie King, President of the Lake Mountain School District Board of Education, stated that securing land early is essential for building neighborhood schools that keep pace with the growing community.
Meta has also committed $1.5 million to the Lake Mountain Education Foundation, with the contribution expected to be made before December 31, 2026, following the construction milestone for an expanded data center in Eagle Mountain. Additionally, Meta has committed to an ongoing annual contribution of $50,000 to the Foundation. These resources are intended to support initiatives such as early childhood literacy.
The partnership also extends to other local districts. The Lake Mountain School District Board of Education negotiated $10,000 contributions for both Aspen Peaks School District and Timpanogos School District to support student scholarships and other opportunities. David Williams, Meta’s Community Engagement Manager, noted that securing land at current prices helps stretch the district's budget and keep costs lower for local families.
Lake Mountain School District is projected to serve more than 26,000 students and approximately 3,000 employees when it begins operations on July 1, 2027. The district will serve Cedar Fort, Eagle Mountain, Fairfield, and Saratoga Springs.
