Duchesne County School District is managing several concurrent educational initiatives as the summer season concludes, including a summer lunch program running through July 30 and registration for the 2026 school year. The district also recently recognized Utah State University Uintah Basin as its E3 recipient.
Summer Nutrition and Registration
The summer lunch program, which has been available to students Monday through Thursday since June 1, is scheduled to conclude on July 30, according to district communications from Con Amore School, Tabiona School, Duchesne Elementary School, Altamont High School, Altamont Elementary School, and Centennial Elementary School. District officials previously noted that updated flyers were issued to address confusion regarding the program's schedule.
2026 Enrollment Requirements
In addition to summer nutrition services, the district is facilitating 2026 school registration across its various campuses. According to posts from James Sasser at several district schools, registration for the 2026 school year has been a primary focus for administrators throughout the summer months.
Kindergarten Enrollment Guidelines
Specific requirements for incoming kindergarteners have been outlined for families within the district. Per Tabiona School, children must be at least five years old on or before September 1 to attend kindergarten. To complete enrollment, parents are required to provide a birth certificate, an immunization record, and proof of residence, such as a utility bill.
Open Enrollment Procedures
Families living outside of Duchesne County or outside of a specific neighborhood school boundary must complete an open enrollment form to attend their preferred school. This process ensures that students are placed in the appropriate educational environment according to district residency guidelines.
District Recognitions
The district has also highlighted recent community and academic achievements. Utah State University Uintah Basin was recently named the district's E3 recipient, a recognition noted by officials at Tabiona School, Duchesne Elementary School, and Altamont High School. Additionally, the district celebrated Lisa Drake as the Duchesne County School District's Teacher of the Year.
Attendance Competition Results
The district recently concluded its 'Attendance March Madness' competition, which saw several schools recognized for high attendance rates. Tabiona School was named the overall winner of the competition. Other week-specific winners included UHS Jr's, DHS, RJHS 8th, AHS, DES, KPES, AES, and TAB.
Academic and Professional Development
Looking back at the academic year, the district held the 2026 Start Smart Teacher Summit on June 23, 2026, at the Utah Capitol North Conference Center. The event focused on new Utah K–8 Financial Literacy Concepts and provided professional development credits for participating educators. The district also celebrated the outcomes of the Attendance Matters Jingle/Rap Contest and the 2026 Sterling Scholars.
