The City of Moab has announced two available openings on the Moab City Planning Commission. To be eligible for these positions, applicants must be residents of Moab City.
This recruitment comes at a significant time for the commission as it works on revising the city's land-use code. Current revisions include the home occupation code, sign code rewrite, vendor code, landscape buffering exception, and code amendments.
The Planning Commission functions as a volunteer board that acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council regarding most city land-use decisions. Members are appointed by the Mayor with consent from the City Council.
Individuals serving on the commission receive a $75 stipend for each meeting attended. Benefits of joining include direct input into the community and free land use training. The commission meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month.
Applications must be submitted by June 30, 2026. Letters of application should include the applicant's name, mailing address, city, zip code, daytime phone number, and email address.
Applicants are also expected to include relevant work or volunteer experience and a brief explanation of their interest in serving on the commission. Applications can be sent via email to mayor@moabcity.org or delivered to the City of Moab, Attn: Mayor Joette Langianese, 217 E. Center St., Moab, UT 84532.
