Last week, state officials received reports of a black bear wandering through a northern Utah town. By the time they caught it, they decided it should be euthanized.

PRICE – During the Price City Council meeting Wednesday, Aug. 26, Price City proclaimed September as Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month following a presentation by Suicide Prevention Liaison Amanda McIntosh. McIntosh reported that Carbon, Emery and Grand counties lead the state in per capita suicide deaths, with firearms and medications as the primary means.

The Brian Head Public Safety Department provides services including police, fire, and EMS. The department also manages community initiatives such as the annual chipping project and pond safety guidelines.
Several gravesites at the Duchesne City Cemetery in eastern Utah have sunk into the ground following the heavy weekend downpours that caused flooding across the state. Along with the gravesites, multiple headstones were also damaged. Photos from the cemetery appear to show the gravesites having sunk several feet into the ground.
The Sandy City Council was scheduled to hold a meeting on September 1, 2026. The meeting was set to include various council business, voting items, and public comment periods.
