All active-duty, Guard, and Reserve members stationed at Hill Air Force Base, along with their families, are invited to attend the annual Military Salute Picnic on Friday, Aug. 7.
The free event will be held at Centennial Park, located just inside the South Gate, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Hosted by the Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee, the picnic serves as a way to thank military members. Picnic co-chair Barbara Riddle stated that the event is a cherished tradition intended to help Airmen and families feel valued and appreciated while enjoying a relaxing day.
Activities for the event include bounce houses, wet and dry inflatables, a mechanical bull, a splash pad, and other options for children. Attendees can also view military equipment displays and watch a demonstration by the 75th Security Forces Squadron's working dogs.
Other scheduled activities include face painting, a pony carousel, character meet-and-greets, and a petting zoo.
Co-chair Bob Ekstrom noted that the event has grown from a modest crowd to thousands of attendees each year. The picnic is part of an ongoing initiative to support Hill Air Force Base and its military families.
The event is sponsored by the Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee, which is a partnership between the Davis and Ogden/Weber Chambers of Commerce.
