The Bureau of Land Management’s Vernal Field Office has approved two drill permits authorizing Koda Uinta, LLC to directionally drill gas wells from the Tungsten 42-26-723 Well Pad in Uintah County, Utah, according to a September 11 report.
The decision authorizes the drilling of gas wells from a single surface location to reach multiple subsurface targets. The project is located in the Red Wash Unit, approximately 22.6 miles southeast of Vernal.
The approval follows a formal review process and is supported by Environmental Assessment DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0159-EA. This assessment examined the potential environmental effects of the well pad construction along with associated infrastructure, including pipelines, access roads, and a powerline.
By utilizing directional drilling from the Tungsten 42-26-723 Well Pad, operators can reach various subsurface targets without the need for additional separate surface sites. This method concentrates surface disturbance in a single location.
