Jeff Hazard of Northridge delivered a career-defining performance on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, to become the 5A boys cross country state champion at Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City. The senior recorded a personal best time of 15:06.53 to secure the individual title.
Hazard, who was the 5A runner-up last year and finished 16th as a sophomore, overcame Achilles tendinitis to achieve the milestone. Northridge finished 17th overall in the 5A boys competition.
In the 6A girls race, Farmington's Ellie Dorius claimed the state championship with a time of 17:54.41. Davis High's Isabella Cram finished fifth with a time of 18:16.50, beating sixth-place medalist Elsie Thacker of Layton High by approximately eight seconds. The Davis High girls team placed third overall, with contributions from Cram, Addy Loveland, Erin Christensen, and Eliza Knechtel.
The 6A boys race saw Harrison Skousen of Davis High finish as the individual fourth-place medalist with a time of 15:18.70, approximately ten seconds behind 6A champion Trevin Lounsbury of Herriman. Layton High's Parker Harris finished just outside the top 10 in sixth place.
Other notable performances included Evelyn Cook of Northridge, who finished ninth in the 5A girls race, and Brynlee Cragun of Box Elder, who placed 20th. In the 6A boys race, Layton High's Parker Harris finished 15:40.75, narrowly beating Lehi's Luke Shumway by less than half a second.
