Wellsville City is launching various community engagement programs this spring, ranging from seasonal celebrations to environmental conservation efforts. Key upcoming events include the annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 4th at the City Square for children aged 9 and under, as well as a city-wide clean-up day scheduled for April 25th.
During the April 25th clean-up, the City Council will provide green waste, metal, and garbage dumpsters east of the Tabernacle. Residents are reminded that these dumpsters are for Wellsville residents only and require a current utility bill for access. Refrigerators and freezers are prohibited from these containers.
In an effort to promote environmental stewardship, the city is implementing specific water conservation schedules based on house numbers. Residents with even house numbers should water lawns on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while those with odd house numbers are requested to water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Sunday watering is discouraged, though enough water will be provided to maintain healthy yards.
For Arbor Day, the city invites individuals and groups to participate in a tree planting ceremony at the Wellsville Dam on April 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. This event honors former Mayor Thomas Bailey. Additionally, the city is seeking volunteers for its Adopt-a-Park program to assist with tasks such as weeding, debris removal, and painting.
Regarding fire safety, open burn permits are available from April 1 through May 31. Residents can obtain permits via the Cache County website. Agricultural burns outside these dates require notification of Fire Chief Mason McBride, while those outside city limits should contact Cache County Fire Warden Dallin Bodrero.
Local recreational updates include the opening of the Wellsville pickleball courts, which now feature two new benches donated by local citizens. Residents are asked to report any vandalism to the city office immediately.
For families, baseball registration is open through April 15, 2026, with a call for coaches and program coordinators. At the Hyrum Library, several spring activities are scheduled, including a family movie of Peter Rabbit on April 13th and a spring craft session on April 21st.
The city also issued reminders regarding trail safety and stormwater management. Trails and sidewalks are intended for non-motorized use, and bicycles without pedals are not permitted as they are classified as motorcycles. Furthermore, residents are reminded that it is illegal to discharge groundwater from basements or yards into the city sewer system.
