State officials say cuts to federal funding means fewer families will get help paying for childcare, according to a August 28 report.
Washington has cut approximately 15 million dollars from the program that assists Utah families.
The updated funding formula means about 900 families will lose assistance.
To qualify for the program, families must now make 50 percent or less of the state median income. Previously, the threshold was 85 percent.
The reduction in federal funding and the change in eligibility thresholds will affect childcare assistance for families in Salt Lake City and across Utah.
